Inspiration goes mum when your mind is in a knot.

Hope you won't mind if I share a short story  . . .

Early February I was sitting alone late in the evening stressing about what to do next. I had just finished a show and before that a commission.

I had a list of art making projects to choose from but many were experimental or exploratory in nature. I had an online course I could focus on, or dive deeper into the never ending admin/marketing tasks list.

And the March 41st Annual Muskoka Arts & Crafts Members' Spring Show was looooming.

Oh how I was stressing! Inspiration was eluding me. I had NO idea what I could possibly do for that show. I had a large 60" x 36" panel but past works close to that size had taken at least as much time as I had left to me. Was it even possible?

As it was too late in the evening to even begin to tackle any one of my options, not one of which solved the Spring show dilema, I decided  all I could do then-and-there was watch a movie on Netflix. (The procrastination, avoidance, escapism etc etc Channel)

I scrolled, perusing the selections when suddenly . . .

I had a vision.

Complete with an electric buzziness.

Here's what I saw -->
Do you see it too? :)

One of the things that struck me was that the subject was perfect for a colour pallete I have been wanting to try for over a year: A "black and white" monochrome type piece.

What follows are a few work-in-progress images resulting from that vision.
BTW it took me a record 25 hours to paper this piece. I wanted a different texture for the face, which meant a specific paper and (many more) smaller pieces.

Images of this new work (which is still in progress, though it will be done in time) have not been shared on social media yet.

I do plan to share a final version after the show.

If you can make it, please take in this show. Some of the best of the best Muskoka located Artists exhibit here. It is well worth it!

Hope you enjoyed the sneak peek!
